Oltre lo specchio Film Festival is the celebration of horror, science fiction, thriller and fantasy cinema: every year, it brings the best international genre cinema to Milan. A cinematographic journey through the great metaphor used by genre movies to reflect on contemporary fears and today’s world. A high tension-vision to go beyond our present.

Among the most anticipated screenings of this 7th Edition are the world premiere of Salvageland by Lino Cayetano and the international premiere of The Caretakers by Shugo Praico.

Scheduled for Tuesday, November 11 at 4:30 PM, Salvageland brings to the screen a visionary tale reflecting on the future of our planet. In a small town near Metro Manila, a police officer and his son must defend the local station when a criminal gang seeks refuge – an intense story of tension, family bonds, and survival set against a hostile volcanic landscape.

On Wednesday, November 12 at 4:30 PM, The Caretakers makes its international debut, exploring the themes of memory and identity. Two mothers struggle over inherited land, but their dispute unleashes supernatural forces that test both family ties and the memory of the earth itself.

The festival also welcomes a major voice in international cinema: Chinese director Chen Xiang, author of the competition film The Journey to No End, a dreamlike and poetic journey through life and reincarnation. The filmmaker will meet the audience during the screening on Tuesday, November 11 at 8:30 PM.
